Starry starry dove - non-smoking section

Formerly the Cumberland Inn, the Star & Dove sits on the edge of Totterdown, the pastel-coloured community famous for its November Arts Trail. The pub is also about 50 yards from Victoria Park, a beautiful green oasis with tennis courts, football pitches and, most importantly, lots of space for sunbathing and dog-walking.

A shot of the pub's back bar

What was once a careworn corner on St Lukes Road has been refurbished and tarted up into a real gem of a pub. It's a wonder what a lick of paint and sanded floors can do... Downstairs, there are two separate bar areas, the Green Room and the Red Room, where you can loaf about on the reclaimed sofas and banquettes, or on our 'church hall' chairs. Upstairs in the restaurant, you'll find royal blue walls, parquet floors, damask linen, kohlrabi lightshades and a pig on the wall.

At the time of writing (July 2008), we have on draught a number of lagers, including Amstel and Leffe, two ciders (Addlestones and Stowford Press) and three ales: Bath Ales Gem, Barnstormer and Butcombe Best. If you have any particular favourites you think we and our punters would like, let the staff know! We also have a carefully-chosen, reasonable wine list, catering for all tastes.
